Attorneys host sessions on technology and more at 2018 Palm Beach County Bench Bar Conference

Submitted by WLC on 14 Mar, 2018

Technology and changing case law were important topics of discussion at the 2018 Palm Beach County Bench Bar Conference. On March 9, at the Palm Beach County Convention Center, Williams, Leininger and Cosby attorneys Chioma Deere and Phil Wiseberg both participated in sessions at the conference, which focused on these important topics.

Phil Wiseberg moderated a panel discussion on Daubert v. Frye, which featured a district court of appeals judge and two circuit court judges. Around 75 people attended the one-hour panel. The panel discussed the recent Florida Supreme Court oral arguments in DeLisle v. Crane, and whether there will be consensus on which standard is to be applied moving forward.

“It was a great discussion of the current state on admissibility of expert testimony,” Wiseberg said following the panel.

Deere co-presented the program entitled, “Litigation in the Technology Age: Electronic Discovery, Emojis, and IOT, Oh My!” at the sold-out Technology and Civil Plenary Session. Technology, electronic discovery, and the influence of the Internet of Things (IOT) were all discussed during the program. You can read more about her session and the takeaways from her blog post here.
