Attorney Chioma Deere presents CLE on technology in law and cyber security
Submitted by WLC on 09 Jun, 2017
On January 20, Chioma Deere presented for the F. Malcom Cunningham, Sr. Bar Association on the topic of Legal Services in the Technology to a full house of 32 attorneys. The Continuing Legal Education course included how to handle electronic discovery, the efficient and effective use of technology in the practice of law, and cyber security topics.
For many, this was the first Technology CLE since the Florida Bar adopted the ABA Module Rule 1.1 comment 8 on attorney competence with technology. The Supreme Court of Florida adopted the amendment in September 2016. The amendment became effective January 1. It sets guidelines that lawyers continue to study and be informed of changes in technology, as well as the risks and benefits it presents related to the practice of law.
Deere received her Graduate Certification in E-Discovery Project Management and routinely presents on the ethics and practical methods of conducting E-Discovery in litigation. She is an E-Discovery Special Master for the 15th Judicial Circuit, Palm Beach County, and serves as the Technology Chair for the West Palm Beach chapter of the Links Incorporated.
